Mission

We strive to provide the high quality cancer treatment and prevention services to our patients. Our care is individualized, family oriented, innovative, research driven, comprehensive, and delivered with hope and compassion by our knowledgeable and love filled staff. Through these initiatives, we will advance to the frontiers of cancer care and research.

Accreditation

California Cancer Institute is a member of many professional and scientific organizations. In addition, our programs and physicians are certified by many healthcare organizations. The Institute is committed to helping people overcome cancer and to prevent cancer in people with higher risk of developing disease based on individual, environmental and genetic risk factors. The best way we know is by listening to our patients and by empowering patients to be part of the recovery process, we can better understand and serve patients’ needs.

With this mission in mind, we have assembled high quality experts in oncology, immunology, in concert with other specialties who believe in the team approach. They not only search for new ways to conquer the disease, but listen and understand the individual concern of every patient we treat. Patients deserve the right to have options. Our Institute provides these options from a wide array of therapies. These include surgery, radiation, chemotherapy, immunotherapy, the latest biological agents, and many support therapies such as psychological, nutritional, spiritual intervention, mind, and body medicine.

Commitment

We are committed to

· creative, innovative, and progressive approaches in the fight against cancer;

· excellence in all of our actions and being satisfied with nothing less than excellence;

· understand our patient needs and make every effort to meet or exceed them;

· highest medical and ethical standards;

· empowering of mind to heal the body;

· provide choice and option to our patients;

· honor God through our beliefs and actions.

Winning

Our ultimate goal is victory. We believe there is no alternative except to win the fight against cancer, to control cancer’s growth, to eliminate it, to give back the life as long as possible, and by any means possible. We believe it is not enough to win once, or twice. Our goal is to win again and again for only being able to repeat the outcome, we can truly claim victory over cancer.

Patients Rights

We believe the last word in the designing of a patient’s treatment plan belongs to the patient. It is his or her right to know the options and the expectations for each and then to decide exercising that right can help greatly to improve the chance for success. For those reasons, we work closely with both patient’s families and friends to make sure that the likely effects of treatments modalities are clearly understood. Only then one feel confident to proceed with the course of action chosen by physician and understood by patient and family. That could accomplish the desired results.

Caring

We have seen the cycle of discovery, denial, shock, fear, anger, despair, helplessness, depression, and demonstrated time after time. To heal patients, this roller coaster ride of negative emotion is a condition that must be resolved. It requires compassion and comfort, specially emotional and spiritual comfort, as well as a great deal of communication and caring that we specialize in tender ,love, and caring.

Our Approach

CCI uses a multi-modality approach to treat cancer. We combine conventional therapies, primarily surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy with nerve therapies such as biological therapy and immunotherapy, monoclonal antibodies, anti-angiogenesis drugs, and targeted therapies.

Our objective is to provide our patients with options. Options that allow us to target their cancer as precisely as possible and minimizing damage to immune system and normal cells. Options that are tailored to their particular tumor type and behavior. Options that seek to offer the most effective treatment available. We also complement the treatment with nutrient, psychological and spiritual care which can be physiologically as well as emotionally beneficial in fighting cancer. By offering patients additional ways to beat their disease, they can become active participants in the fight against cancer and increase their chances for recovery.

Treatment

Our Institute goes beyond just providing conventional treatment therapies. We also offer a wide scope of innovative procedures. Sometimes by applying variations to standard therapies, we can improve their effectiveness. Additionally, by searching out and implementing the latest developments in cancer care worldwide into our treatment program, we can offer a more comprehensive cancer treatment for our patients.

Treatment Options

Thanks to modern science and technology in 21th Century we have many more options to offer to our patients. Experienced oncologist can apply the art of medicine and choose among various products and individualized treatment protocols for every patient in order to obtain maximum outcome. Also, different schedules and routs of therapy include intravenous (IV), subcutaneous (SQ) (beneath or under the skin), oral, dose dense chemotherapy, and so on.

Immunotherapy and Biological Therapy

We believe that cancer treatment may be enhanced by understanding and then exploiting the body’s immune system. Biological therapy is the exploitation of biological substances like interferon and colony stimulating factors such as GMCSF. Immunology and biological therapy are used now at our institute either alone or in conjunction with other modalities such as surgery, radiation therapy, and chemotherapy. For some patients these treatments may produce desired results where traditional forms of therapy fail.
